Rosie Bird Ngale is an emerging artist from Utopia, a community located 240 kilometres north east of Alice Springs in Centralia known for its quality art.
Rosie is the daughter of Lindsay Bird Mpetyane, a senior leader in his country. Rosie was taught to paint by her father and other family members around 1989, and she continues to paint their traditional stories.
The majority of her works depict the seeds of Alpar, or the rat tail plant. She also paints Awelye, the designs painted onto women’s bodies as part of their ceremonies.
